You must procure the ‘parent documents’ from the seller at the time of the registration. These documents carry all the details related to the property’s ownership over the past 30 years. If the seller holds a patta for the particular property, the buyer can conveniently transfer it to his name using the parent document. If there is no patta, the parent document becomes extremely critical for the property’s transfer.
